The District Chief Executive of Nadowli-Kaleo Hon. Katherine T. Lankono on behalf of the Ministry of Education successfully handed over two hundred (200) dual desk furniture to the Nadowli District office of the Ghana Education Service for onward distribution to schools in dire need of furniture. In presenting the furniture to the GES Director, Hon Katherine noted that the District Assembly is aware of the many challenges faced by schools in the district especially those located in distant communities. She noted that education remains critical towards the development of every nation and for any country to develop, there is the need to improve the Human Resource Development thus prioritizing education. For this reason, the assembly attaches premium on education. She added that the assembly will not relent in their efforts of working assiduously with development partners and as an assembly towards tackling the challenges faced by schools in the district. She assured the Education Director of her continued support towards transforming the educational fortunes of the district to the better. The district director in his remarks indicated that the presentation was timely and necessary because it will go a long way towards augmenting and, to some extent, mitigating the inconveniences experienced by students as the lack of furniture is a great hindrance to effective teaching and learning. Hon. Katherine also used the occasion to commend the efforts of teachers in the district but encouraged them to work even harder towards ensuring the educational success of students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). She equally urged educational authorities to ensure that the furniture is kept in good condition and that discipline is instilled in the students.
