NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR CIVIC EDUCATION (NCCE) SENSITISE MCCOY COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AND SOME SELECTED BASIC & SHS SCHOOLS IN THE NADOWLI-KALEO DISTRICT ABOUT PREVENTING AND CONTAINING VIOLENT EXTREMISM

In the year under review, the Directorate of National commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Nadowli-Kaleo District as part of their constitutional mandate to educate and sensitize citizens on their right and responsibilities.

The directorate have carried out these activities in the district to prevent and contain violent extremism in the district and these activities were supported by European Union (EU).

The number of people that were sensitized in the district was three thousand, seven hundred and sixty-three (3,763) this comprise of one thousand, four hundred and fifty (1,450) males and two thousand, three hundred and thirteen (2,313) females.

In addition, the directorate have also carried out these activities in the district and they are as follows:

  • Civic engagement on National values
  • District Level Elections (DLE)
  • Civic education on environmental Management
  • Promoting active participation of women and other marginalized group in DLE
  • Constitutional week celebration
  • Child protection
  • Citizenship week celebration
  • Radio discussion

The Senior civic education officer of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) said, these activities were carried out in some selected Schools, Faith Base Organisations and Communities because of inadequate funding the directorate could not reach out to all the schools, Faith Base Organisations and Communities in the district.
